Minsoo and Morgan

Welcome to NaCreSoMo Day…Four‽ What happened to Three?

“[I]f you push too hard, it’s a lot less fun”…so don’t worry about Rule 4.

Oh, that’s right, I did say that. All right, then. Today’s Creation is a sketch of the characters from Day 1 when they were in…let’s say middle school?

This has nothing to do with the story from Day 1, and indeed I’m pretty sure the two of them hadn’t even met each other at this point. I just wanted to sketch the boy on the left and figured it might as well be Minsoo. Morgan’s kind of just along for the ride. (How many people thought Minsoo was a girl on Sunday?)

I’ve been sketching comic-style faces here and there in the last few weeks, inspired by the webcomic El Goonish Shive. I think I’m very slowly getting better (a la last year’s Painted Portrait Project), but I still don’t really have much control over the drawings. In this particular case, I was actually aiming for more of an elementary school look, but Minsoo’s face ended up too tall almost right from the beginning. I decided to roll with it.

(EDIT: Aw, crap. Morgan’s hoodie should totally have a front pocket.)

Anyway, if you want to see more of my sketches I’ve got an album on Facebook that I’ll add to every now and then. And to make up for missing Day 3, here’s the recording of the 24 Hour Theatre play I was in, “I Know Why The Caged Birdman Sings”. Thanks to fellow participant and fellow NaCreSoMo-er Ashley for getting the video up so fast!
