Charging Station

(insert clever titles for each sub-poem here)

All day out
In the noise and light
And people want to drag me out
Into the night
They say that it’ll be fun
And I know they mean well
But it’s my own personal
Brand of hell

Can’t pick up the phone
Can’t even send mail
Can’t listen to you speak
If I try I’m gonna fail
So just give me one night
A night to recharge
And then I’ll be back
To facing life at large.

All day locked up
In a tiny cube
Traveling home
In a plastic tube
Wish I could go out
And stretch my wings
But I’m trapped underneath
These necessary things

Can’t write this report
Can’t even send mail
Can’t read what’s on the page
If I try I’m gonna fail
So just give me one night
A night to recharge
And then I’ll be back
To facing life at large.
