if i comment on this, without even bothering to read the other comments, something great will happen to me.

Saw him in the glade last week.
He said “how’ve you been”.
We’ve got the same class on Tuesday evening,
I said I’d see him then.

And as I watched him walk away
I thought about what I might say
To see if I can explain the way
I think I feel…

And I log on and see, “ask me anything”.

And if I comment on this,
Without even bothering to read
Then maybe something good
Will happen to me.
I know it’s not much
But it’s a start.

Well, the devil’s in the details
And I want to get this right.
But I find I’m too distracted;
Not getting any homework done tonight.

And my heart is going ping and pong
Thinking he might like this song
Though it’s taking me so long
to write…

And I log on and see…no reply.

So if I comment on this,
Without even bothering to read
Then maybe something good
Will happen to me.
I know it’s not much
But it’s a start.

Finally I close the lid.
No update’s coming now.
Already I’m up way too late.
Thinking, wond’ring how
We get ourselves into these places
Picturing another’s face, and
Watching as our thoughts drift back
No matter what we do.

And if I comment on this,
Without even bothering to read it first
Then maybe something good
Will happen to me.
I know it’s not much
But it’s a start.

Maybe it’s a start.
