Happy Lunar New Year!
Back in high school, my Japanese class had an assignment to make a nengajō and send it in to the teacher. For fun (and because I liked my teacher) I’ve continued making cards and sending them to her every year since high school. Sometimes I’ve sent them to others as well. (They’re hand-drawn, though, and I’m lazy, so don’t feel bad if you didn’t get one. I only made three this year.)
The other part of this tradition has been posting the cards online for everyone to see, which I specifically do on the (Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean) lunar new year. So, happy new year everyone!
(The text is a traditional new year’s greeting; you wouldn’t really translate it any way but “Happy New Year”.)
