The Reader's Dilemma

An awe-inspiring array
Billions of words written down
Carried from countless countries
Desperately wait to be found

Even if one should aspire
For to acquire a new book each day
Giving the proper attention
Has too high a cost to pay

If you are then forcéd to choose
Just for the sake of time
Know that your choices will shape you
Let go in the rhythm and rhyme

Make the most of your paperpack journeys
Never give up on them all
Over miles and decades they follow
Pouring out – a tumultuous call

Quietly drift back to the real
Rest your eyes and absorb what you’ve read
Several more pages to go tomorrow
Tonight you can lay down your head

Under the moon the book’s resting
Vested safe on the shelf by the door
Weeks may go by; the pages will end
Xylem a bible no more

Yet ever the story will shape you
Zeal, philosophy, lore.
