"Core" (Chiptune)
Today for NaCreSoMo I tried making another chiptune song from 「うみねこのなく頃に」.
Forget animation; apparently it’s all about chiptune now!
“Core” was an interesting choice because the original uses unusual echoey drums, which I didn’t even attempt to replicate. I did choose it deliberately because it has fairly simple instrumental lines, but I’m not sure it paid off—the reason they’re so simple is because of the “hollow” feeling of the original and the mood it sets. What I got out was…well, I can’t exactly decide what it is, but it’s not tense and vaguely creepy like the original. Still, it was an interesting experiment.
