The Ushiromiya Cousins
Taking it easy for NaCreSoMo today with another sketch (from reference) of the rest of the Ushiromiya cousins from 「うみねこのなく頃に」.
I don’t actually think I did as well on any of these as I did with Maria. Battler (upper left) is mostly all right if you ignore the mouth, though the “laughing eyes” doesn’t work as well in black-and-white. (Yes, his hair is really like that, at least in the classic version of the novel.) Jessica’s face is a little too tall, but other than that she came out pretty good; the wink is pretty much her signature expression. George looks pretty much nothing like George—his face is also too tall—and his expression went straight past “perturbed” (which I was aiming for) into “downright grumpy”.
Oh well, practice!
