About six weeks ago I started learning how to play guitar, something I’ve been meaning to do for months (years?). I borrowed my host brother’s guitar, but he doesn’t know how to play, so I’ve just been going with a couple PDFs I found on the internet.
Six weeks in, I can now play and sing four-chord songs in the key of G, plus a small handful of other easy chords. I guess the next things to learn/practice are “alternate picking” (melodies) and “barre chords” (keys other than G).
Here’s a video of me playing “Don’t Cry”, inspired by the official acoustic version of the song. I mess up a few times, it’s not my best singing, and I have a long way to go before I’m actually good, but for now I’m proud of what I’ve done.
