Romancer of Reality

Painter of grey skies
Dark hair, brown eyes
The rush and hustle of city life
The lonely calm of a cold blue night.

Writer of daily news
Common guides, invisible clues
Text messages, e-mails, traffic fines
Service hours and “No Parking” signs.

Singer of Babel’s age
Pleasantries, set-phrase
The street-corner music of lips and hands
And the hum of our mechanical companions.

Dancer on a web of light
Walking, riding, driving, flight
Locations connected by the individual
Making all lives indivisible
Letting it be known that this
is
real.

Ah, there we go. Back to poetry proper.
