The Assassin and the Wanderer

Contracted and compensated
Driven and drifting
Hunter and gatherer
Searching and sifting

Destination and journey
Mission and migration
Closer and opener
Reduction, exploration

But both without a home
or far from it
Both shying from the herald
and the trumpet
Both invisible, or legend,
or will become it.

(But framing these as opposite’s a false dichotomy
For neither one is who I am or who I want to be.)

Bonus haiku:

As jobs go, the one
Necessitates the other
As the herd moves on
